Armenian painter and member of Daredevils of Sasoun group Ashot Petrosyan on hunger strike

Ashot Petrosyan, a member of the Daredevils of Sasoun  - the group that seized the police compound in Yerevan earlier last month demanding among others the resignation of the President - went on hunger strike at the hospital for prisoners where he was taken to after skirmishes with the police.

His lawyer Araik Papikyan says his client wants to meet with prominent Armenian composers Tigran Mansuryan and Robert Amirkhanyan without explaining the reason of such desire.  

Painter Ashot Petrosyan was wounded in skirmishes with the police in the area of the seized compound on July 26. He is charged with illegal arms traffic, seizure of buildings and destruction of vehicles. The Court chose a two-month arrest as a measure of restraint against the painter.
