Central figures of Heritage Party arrested in Armenia

Almost all the activists of the opposition Heritage Party have been arrested. Although 15 members of the Armenian parliament appealed to the court Monday with a petition asking not to choose arrest as a measure of restraint against Armen Martirosyan, the vice chairman of the Party, he was arrested on August 2. 
Martirosyan is charged with Article 225.1 (Organization of mass disorder, accompanied with violence, pogroms, arson, destruction or damage to property, using fire-arms, explosives

or explosive devices, or by armed resistance to the representative of the authorities, is punished with imprisonment for the term of 4 to 10 years) of the criminal code of Armenia. 

It was reported earlier that Andrias Ghukasyan, a member of the opposition civil movement "Rise Up, Armenia" was arrested for 2 months on July 29 on suspicion of organizing mass disorders in Yerevan's Sari Tagh community over the recent police compound siege. His lawyer Yervand Varosyan says Andrias Ghukasyan who was transferred to Nubarashen penitentiary and started a hunger strike. 

Another member of Heritage Party Hovsep Khurshudyan was arrested two. A member of "Barev, Yerevan" faction of the Elders' Council of Yerevan David Sanasaryan was arrested for 2 months.  His lawyer Robert Revazyan says the court's decision will be disputed. All the arrestees are charged with Article 225.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
