The interstate highway linking Armenia and Iran has been unblocked after Syunik region governor Surik Khachatryan met with the protesters. The Syunik residents blocked the highway earlier today demanding the government to launch drastic reform and resolve the situation with the group “Daredevils of Sasoun” without bloodshed.
The Syunik residents say their villager Sedrak Nazaryan, a member of the Daredevils of Sasoun group, was injured during the latest skirmishes with the police in Yerevan. No details of Khachatryan’s talks with the protesters are reported. Police have arrived at the scene trying to persuade the people to unblock the highway.
