Garegin Chugaszyan, the new head of the New Armenia movement, authorized by Artsakh war hero Zhirayr Sefilyan, has made a statement on the current situation after the seizure of the Patrol-Guard Service Regiment building in Erebuni district of Yerevan by Sefilyan's supporters.
"I warn the incumbent "managers" of Armenia: if they assault the building, it will not remain unpunished and the situation will not end with the authorities' triumph the way it happened during the 1 march 2008 events. The fight will not stop," the statement says, noting that in this case, the authorities will lose their last chance to leave the political arena safely.
For his part, Sefilyan's teammate, member of the Founding Parliament movement Alec Yenicomshian, who has managed to meet with Sefilyan, says that the latter campaigns for peaceful settlement of the situation and that he is even willing to meet with Serzh Sargsyan for that purpose. "For Sefilyan, a peaceful outcome of the situation matters more than his release," Yenicomshian says.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan made an attempt to hold a face-to-face meeting with the rebels for the third time, however, the police did not let him do it.
