The representatives of the Armenian Human Rights Defender’s Office are visiting the police stations, where the detained members of the opposition New Armenia movement have been taken, the Ombudsman’s press office reports.
"The Human Rights Defender’s Office is receiving reports about detention of citizens by the police. Media outlets also disseminate such information. The rapid response group of the Ombudsman’s Office has started visits to the police stations, where the detainees have been taken,” the statement says. To note, Artsakh war hero, New Armenia movement leader Zhirayr Sefilyan's armed supporters, who have seized the territory of the Erebuni Police Department in Yerevan, demand that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan should resign and a government of national confidence should be formed.
