Seyran Ohanyan: Each inch of land is holy for us

 The NKR Defense Army keeps a close watch on the positions lost during the April war and, if needed, steps can be taken to retrieve them, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters in Gyumri on July 4. 

"Each inch of land is holy for us," he said, without replying to the question why the lost territories have not been retrieved so far. 

Ohanyan also noted that the NKR Defense Army and the Armenian Armed Forces analyzed the situation after the April war and now they base their activities on these arguments. He said that the military strength of the two Armenian republics will be increased. "We revised the defense strategy together with the Defense Army and came to the conclusion that the defense line is equipped with relevant mining and demining devices. The situation with the arms and military equipment is also satisfactory. Nevertheless, we should seek to modernize our armed forces," he stressed. 

The minister stressed that during the April war all commanders acted independently and could take decisions on the spot with due regard for the current situation and the level of danger.
