


On June 21, the Public Monitoring Group engaged in control over the incarceration conditions of prisoners visited Zhirayr Sefilyan, New Armenia Front co- founder, Artsakh War hero, who was detained Monday, on June 20.
Sefilyan told the members of the Monitoring Group "he is ok," adding that his detention is another link in the chain of political persecutions against him. The members of the Monitoring Group are expected to visit Sefilyan once again in the short run.
Ombudsperson of Armenia Arman Tatoyan is looking to visit Sefilyan later today.
To note, New Armenia Front co-founder, Artsakh War hero, Zhirayr Sefilyan was detained today on June 20 on suspicion of organizing a criminal group. A criminal case based on Article 235.2 was initiated. Eight persons faced charges for illegal acquisition and keeping of weapons, another 6 were arrested, while one is wanted. The charges are based on the proofs collected and the testimonies of the group members. According to the special investigative committee of Armenia Sefilyan and his supporters were planning to seize buildings of state importance during the days of April war. The investigation continues. Karo Yeghunyan, an activist of New Armenia Front, said that Sefilyan was detained from Sardarapat.
