


Two persons have been arrested over beating of the Nagorno Karabakh parliamentarian Hayk Khanumyan, the NKR Police told ArmInfo. In particular, the arrestees Mikael Sahakyan and Sergey Avanesyan are charged with Article 129.2.1 and 129.2.2 of the Criminal Code of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Criminal Code. The Police exposed the car used by the suspects and the clothing they wore during the attack on the MP. A range of examinations will be held over the incident. All the witnesses and the injured parliamentarians have been interrogated repeatedly. The NKR Court of First Instance adopted a decision on June 12 2016 to satisfy the petition for choosing a 2 month- long arrest as a measure of restraint against Sahakyan and Avanesyan. Investigation continues.
The NKR Police press-office told earlier ArmInfo, the criminal case was initiated after Khanumyan's wife Diana Movsisyan's appealed to the Police. The criminal case is based on the Article 129.1.1 and 129.1.2 of the NKR Criminal Code (kidnapping by a group of person, bodily harms dangerous for health or life, violence or threats of violence).
To note, MP of the National Assembly, Leader of National Revival Party and supporter of Nagorno Karabakh's former Defense Minister Samvel Babayan, Hayk Khanumyan was hospitalized after being beaten in the morning on June 6 in Stepanakert. MP Hayk Khanumyan, left a post on Facebook overnight saying that what happened to him was an outrage. He wrote that he was beaten up severely and forced to sign a document and say on camera that he allegedly organized actions in support of the former minister of NKR Samvel Babayan for reward.
