Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan accepted the resignation of Artyom Movsisyan, the head of the Main Department of Armenia's Civil Aviation, on June 7.
According to the Government's website, Movsisyan had occupied the given position since 2004.
It has been widely rumored in the press that Movsisyan resigned over a corruption scandal connected with Lufthansa air carrier, Germany, after demanding a big sum for providing the company with a license to operate in the Armenian market. However, Spokesperson for the Main Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia Ruben Grdzelyan refuted the rumors.
According to Mass Media, the representatives of the airline allegedly complained to the country's leadership and Movsisyan was dismissed. According to another rumors, the new head of the Department will be Sergey Avetisyan, the deputy minister of economy of Armenia.
