

Thorbjorn Jagland Secretary General of the Council of Europe met with Arman Tatoyan, Ombudsperson of Armenia in Strasbourg on May 12.
The human rights defender informed the CoE Secretary General of the atrocities committed by Azerbaijan's troops against the civilians of Nagorno Karabakh during the April aggression, which were war crimes and gross violation of the human rights.
Arman Tatoyan submitted the analytical report by Nagorno Karabakh's Ombudsperson on the given atrocities and general aggression by Azerbaijan against NKR.
The Armenian human rights defender presented the consequences of Azerbaijan's aggressive policy that affect the entire human rights system of the CoE. He said that policy is promoted at the highest level in Azerbaijan.
The sides mentioned that violation of human rights are inadmissible and protection of human rights has no citizenship or borders.
They stressed the importance of the Ombudsperson's Office in implementing the decisions by the ECHR, as well as addressed the issues connected with prevention of family violence, protection of the persons with disabilities etc.
