First Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan, Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Thomas Lenk (Germany) and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk discussed on may 12the situation in the zone of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the scenarios of possible developments, the press-service of the ministry reports.
Thomas Lenk presented the current situation along the line of contact of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops as well as on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Tonoyan emphasized the fact that on May 11 immediately after the OSCE mission's monitoring was over a solder of Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army was killed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. By this non-efficiency of conducted monitoring missions in the current format is demonstrated. During the meeting the importance of applying international mechanisms of investigation for preventing such incidents was emphasized.
The information spread by Azerbaijan that the Armenian side has used chemical weapon was also discussed. As the deputy minister stressed this misinformation once more proves that international mechanisms for preventing spread of such misinformation are needed.
