Desir about Karabakh conflict: Sides do not wish to return to negotiations table

The events happened in the early April on the Line of Contact of Nagorno-Karabakh demonstrated that it is not right to think about the conflict settlement by maintaining status-quo, Harlem Desir, French Secretary of State for European Affairs, stated in French Senate answering to a question related to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. 

"Dozens of civilians and servicemen die annually because of the conflict. Currently it is urgent to reestablish the ceasefire regime, military clashes must be stopped and the sides should sit at negotiations table for reaching the conflict settlement via negotiations, there is no confidence between the sides. They do not wish to return to the negotiations table", Desir thinks. 

According to him the French side is ready to make every effort to bring the sides back to the negotiation table. I have visited the region in late April, held meetings with Armenia and Azerbaijan's presidents and called both countries to make compromises. The essence of those compromises is known. According to the Madrid principles they include non-use of force, respectful attitude to Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and Nagorno-Karabakh's people's right to self-determination, Desir summarized.
