Armenian parliamentarians demand closed discussions with Defense Minister Seyran Ohanuyan and Chief of the General Staff Yuri Khachaturov on the four-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh. "We must discuss with them what happened earlier this month and the reasons why it happened. We have questions concerning the efficiency of the management of the armed forces and other issues. Ohanyan and Khachaturov must give detailed explanations," said Hrant Bagratyan, a member of the Armenian National Congress opposition party, former prime minister of Armenia. Vice Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, in turn, disagreed with Bagratyan assessments saying, "Ohanyan is ready to discuss any issue, but it will hardly help settling the problem promptly." Sharmazanov suggested Bagratyan to ask his questions to the minister on April 27 during a briefing in the government. "Afterwards, I will organize a meeting, if there is still need for it," he said. Naira Zohrabyan, the head of the Prosperous Armenia Party faction, in turn, demanded organization of closed discussions also with Prime Minister Hovik Abramyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, since there are many issues the parliamentarians can speak about openly. Sharmazanov said he is ready to hold both open hearings and discussions in the parliamentary commissions. On April 6, closed discussions on the military situation were held in the Parliament with Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan and Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan.
