Russian Foreign Ministry: The 1994 -1995 agreements on the ceasefire have no time limitations and form the foundation of the cessation of hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone

The Russian Foreign Ministry has disseminated a statement Thursday, on April 21, wherein 
it says that two ceasefire agreements signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia in 1995 and 1996 are the foundation of cessation of 
hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh region.  

"In the context of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian side insists that the 1994 agreement on the ceasefire and the 
agreement on the strengthening of the ceasefire regime in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict reached in 1995 have no time limitations 
and continue to form the foundation of the cessation of hostilities in the conflict zone," the Ministry says in the statement. 

The Foreign Ministry says that this fundamental stand that fully meets the general approach of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs was 
reflected in the note of the Permanent Representation of the Russian Federation at the OSCE  to the Permanent Representation of Azerbaijan 
at the OSCE on April 12 2016.  

Earlier on April 21, Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said at a briefing that Russia is convinced 
that the sides to the Karabakh conflict must show restraint, resume the negotiation process.  "It is necessary to restore stability, 
resume the negotiations to achieve sustainable peace," she said.  Zakharova reaffirmed Russia's readiness to render the necessary 
assistance to the peace process as a mediator.
