The Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) urges Russia not only to remain committed to the Collective Security Treaty but also to be guided by morality and justice standards. The UAR has released a statement, expressing its grave concern over the Russian high-ranking officials' statements that Russia will keep supplying military hardware to Azerbaijan.
In particular, the statement says that Azerbaijan launched its recent offensive against Karabakh by using Russian-made offensive weapons. Though the Russian authorities intensified their intermediary efforts to stop the armed clashes, nevertheless, Russia's reluctance to stop supplying weapons to the country fighting against Russia's ally, which is also a CSTO and EEU member, has sparked protests in Armenia and in Russia, unfortunately prompting anti-Russian sentiments in Armenia. "Russia's stand is especially inexplicable amid the Russian prime minister's statements that Azerbaijan is fighting with Turkey's support," the UAR says, recalling that the reluctance to admit the true core of Turkey resulted in Turkey's "stab in the back" of Russia.
"That country, which committed the Armenian Genocide a hundred years ago, keeps consistently conducting its policy despite the condemnation by many countries and international organizations. Azerbaijan - a true ally of Turkey - is now conducting a similar policy when glorifying the officer, who killed a sleeping Armenian officer, with whom he was undergoing a NATO training course in Budapest, or those posting on social networks photos of decapitated Armenian soldiers. We believe that the current overtures to Azerbaijan may result in the fact that the latter, like its true ally Turkey, can stick a knife in Russia's back. The only difference is that it will be the "knife" sold to Azerbaijan by Russia", the statement says.
The organization recalls that Armenia and Russia are bound not only by strategic and allied relations, but also by time-tested centuries-old fraternal feelings. It is due to the sincere attitude to Russia that the Armenian community urges Russia not only to remain committed to the CSTO Collective Security Treaty (under Article 1, the member states shall not participate in alliances or actions directed against another member), but also be guided by the morality and justice standards.
