


Bodies of 18 soldiers that fell in fighting Azerbaijan's recent aggression were transferred to the Armenian side by Azerbaijan on April 10 with signs of tortures and mutilation, David Tonoyan, First Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia informed Ms. Caroline Douilliez, the Head of the ICRC Delegation to Armenia, on April 11.
According to the Defense Ministry press-office, the sides discussed the measures to find the bodies of those killed during Azerbaijan's aggression along the Line of Contact of the Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops (on April 2-5) as well as to ascertain the fate of those missing. David Tonoyan thanked Ms. Caroline Douilliez for the support in exchanging the bodies of the killed in cooperation with the OSCE MG.
The deputy minister said Azerbaijan's acts, being a flagrant manifestation of inhumanity, run counter to the laws and customs of war and are in grave violation of the international humanitarian law, in particular, the Convention (I) for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field (1949), Geneva Convention (III) relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War (1949) and the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflicts (Protocol I)."
David Tonoyan said the Armenian side will do its utmost to get Azerbaijan's crimes condemned by the world community and specialized organization.
