Zara Amatuni: ICRC operation will be over only after bodies on both sides are found, retrieved, and identified

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) acts as a neutral intermediary to facilitate the operation on the retrieval and identification of bodies of those killed in the recent military escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. The operation will be over only after the bodies on both sides are found, retrieved, identified, and returned to their families, said Zara Amatuni, Head of Communication and Prevention Programmes at the ICRC Yerevan Office, told ArmInfo. 

Our task is to give answers to the families that have appealed to us for help. Therefore, the ICRC will consider the operation completed only after the bodies of the killed are returned to their families," Amatuni said. 

On April 8, in line with the arrangement made by the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides and with the support of the ICRC and OSCE representatives, an operation on retrieval of the bodies of the killed soldiers was held within the period from 3:00pm to 8:00pm local time. 
According to the NKR Defense Army press-office, the bodies of Robert Alexander Abajyan, senior sergeant of the NKR Defense Army (1996), and private Andranik Atom Zohrabyan (1996) were found.  No violations of the ceasefire arrangement were registered during the give period of time.
