NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, Special Rep for Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai has responded to the upsurge of violence in the Karabakh conflict zone.
"Gravely concerned by cease fire violations in Nagorno-Karabakh. The sides must stop shooting and stabilise the situation," Appathrai said in a tweet.
To note, on April 1 night, the Azerbaijani army attacked the positions of the NKR Defense Army along the entire line of contact, using artillery, armored vehicles and air force. The adversary targeted also the populated areas and civil facilities. Fierce battles are still going on along the line of contact. The Armenian Air Defense Forces took retaliatory measures, shooting down 2 Azerbaijani military helicopters, 2 drones, and destroying 3 battle tanks. Fierce fighting is going on along the whole line of contact. The adversary has 200 human losses, according to the Armenian side.
