UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon deeply disturbed by recent reports of large-scale ceasefire violations along Line of Contact

 “The Secretary-General urges all relevant parties to put an immediate end to the fighting, fully respect the ceasefire agreement and take urgent steps to de-escalate the situation,” said the statement.

 Mr. Ban through his statement reiterated his full support for the efforts of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group and all parties working to resolve this dangerous situation and pursue a peaceful negotiated settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

To note, On April 1 night, the Azerbaijani army attacked the positions of the NKR Defense Army along the entire line of contact, using artillery, armored vehicles and air force. The adversary targeted also the populated areas and civil facilities. Fierce battles are still going on along the line of contact. The Armenian Air Defense Forces took retaliatory measures, shooting down 2 Azerbaijani military helicopters, 2 drones, and destroying 3 battle tanks. The adversary has suffered 200 human losses, according to the Armenian side. The Armenian side suffered 18 human losses, 35 are wounded.
