
Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin and diplomats of the Russian Embassy visited the Surb Sargis Church in Yerevan on January 12 to pay tribute to the family of Avetisyans that was murdered on January 12 2015 in Gyumri. The diplomats lighted candles and requested a service in remembrance of the dead. According to the Russian Embassy official page on Facebook, Consul General of Russia in Gyumri Yevgeny Konyshev visited the cemetery where the members of Avetisyans' family were buried and laid flowers on their graves.
To recall, a family of six was killed by Russian soldier Valery Permyakov in Gyumri on Jan 12. The only survivor, six- month-old Seryozha Avetisyan, who received stab wounds, died in hospital on Jan 19.
Permyakov underwent the psychological and forensic examination at the territory of the Russian military base in Gyumri on Sept 17 in line with the petition by the legal successors of the Avetisyan's family. Previously the Russian party conducted a similar examination and recognized Permyakov criminally sane. Valery Permyakov was charged under Article 104 Para 2 Points 1, 5 and 8 (murder of two or more persons; committed with extreme atrocity, for financial gain, associated with extortion and armed robbery), Article 175, Para 2 Points 3 and 4 (robbery with use of weapons or other items applied as weapons), and Article 34-329 Para 1 (attempted illegal trespassing of state border).
The trial against Valery Permyakov, serviceman of the Russian 102nd military base in Armenia, has been put off till January 18, 2016.
The hearing has been postponed because Eduard Aghajanyan, the second public defender of Valery Permyakov, filed a petition on postponement of the hearing to familiarize himself with the trial contents.
