Karen Ohanjanyan, the coordination of the Nagorno- Karabakh Committee Helsinki Initiative-92, PhD in Philosophy, the winner of international peace and human rights prizes, has disseminated a statement wherein he calls what is happening on the border of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh an undeclared war. In his words, Azerbaijan has unleashed hostilities to probe into the defenses of the Armenian sides before launching a large-scale revenge war.
"As a human rights defender and a civilian having certain achievements in conflict transformation by peaceful means and bringing civic societies of the conflicting countries to peaceful dialogue, I cannot but express by concerns over the escalations in the conflict zone," Ohanjanyan says slamming Azerbaijan's leadership for mania to return NKR to territory of Azerbaijan.
The human rights defender says that unlike 23 years ago when he urged his authorities to stop the war now he demands them to use the entire military power to destroy the military and economic capacities of Azerbaijan, including communications, pipelines feeding Turkish and European consumers. In response to the threats of Azerbaijan's authorities to destroy Nagorno Karabakh, Ohanjanyan recalls that Nagorno- Karabakh cannot be destroyed and any paranoiac attempt to seize it will ruin Azerbaijan. He urged the civic society in Azerbaijan to stop following silently to the death of their compatriots on the border.
"I urge my Azerbaijan colleagues and the entire people of Azerbaijan to voice a vote of protest against war until it is too late. You have lost dozens of innocent soldiers in a senseless attack within a day!!! The future will not forgive us our present silence!!!" the statement reads.
