The actions of the Azerbaijani authorities once again demonstrate that Azerbaijan's leadership is losing its mind, David Babayan, Spokesman for the Nagorno-Karabakh President, has told ArmInfo when commenting on the protest note sent to the United States by Azerbaijan following James Warlick's meeting with NKR Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan.
"Such actions of Azerbaijan are totally illogical. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have always held meetings with the authorities of Artsakh. What did Baku mean by its steps? May it be an entree to further boycott of the Co-Chairs' activities?" Babayan says.
The Spokesman for the Nagorno-Karabakh President also notes that the U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and the U.S. Department of State should by all means respond to the steps of Baku. Today Azerbaijan files a note of protest over the meeting with Mirzoyan, tomorrow it will protest over the Co- Chairs' visit to Nagorno-Karabakh and the day after tomorrow it will boycott the OSCE Minsk Group Co- Chairs' activities, Babayan says.
To note, Azerbaijan sent a protest note to the US over a meeting of the OSCE Minsk Group's U.S. Co-chair James Warlick with Foreign Minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Karen Mirzoyan. The protest note was handed over to the US Ambassador to Baku Robert Cekuta by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev.
"Participation of the OSCE Minsk Group's U.S. Co-Chair in the activities aimed against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is completely contrary to the mandate of a co-chairing institution of the Minsk Group, and casts shadow on its neutrality and impartiality," said the press office of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
In its note, Azerbaijan also informed the U.S. Department of State that creation of conditions for the NKR representatives for participation in public campaigns and other activities in the United States does not help achieve progress in the talks over the Karabakh conflict, but exacerbates the complicated process.
