Rostelecom to hold events enhancing computer literacy in Armenia

 On November 30 and December 1, Rostelecom will hold events in Armenia presenting "The ABC on Internet" manual and holding open lessons.

As the company's press-service informed ArmInfo, at 11:00am on November 30, Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan will host a press conference during which "The ABC on Internet" series of events will officially kick off, and for the first time in Armenia, the manual specially created for Armenian internet users will be presented in Armenia. Later, at 15:00, the hard copies of the handout will be officially transferred to the vault of the National Library  of Armenia.  As for the classes, they will start on December 1 in 2 universities - Armenian branch of Economics Institute after Plekhanov (5/2 Arzumanyan street, Yerevan) and Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University (123 Hovsep Emin, Yerevan) where trainings for 55+ people and retraining for students- volunteers will be carried out. The latter will afterwards act as tutors. 

Within the event, Rostelecom will hold the awards ceremony of the "Thank You, Internet 2015" (www.azbukainterneta.ru) contest of the personal achievements of the retired people in terms of acquiring computer skills.  

Advisor of Russian Embassy to Armenia Oleg Shapovalov, Head of Communication and Information Department, Ministry of Transport and Communication Suren Petrosyan, CEO of GNC-Alfa CJSC making part of Rostelecom Group Hayk Faramazyan, Deputy Diirector of the External Communications Department of Rostelecom Yuliana Sokolenko, Head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan Mark Kalinin and Director of the National Library of Armenia Tigran Zargaryan are invited to the press conference. 
To recall, "The ABC on Internet" is an educational textbook for the people of older generation.  The project was launched and successfully implemted for the pensioners and people of 55+ age, who start to study the work of computer. Detailed information on the computer structure, rules of work with text files, video and audio recordings, photos, information storage is expounded in an accessible form for the older people in the textbook. A large section of textbook is devoted to obtaining skills in the web search engines, features of the communication in social networks, Skype and email, as well as safety precautions while using the Internet.The manual was adapted for Armenia and presents the power bodies of Armenia, state services and online services, companies providing communication ervices in the country and the news websites.  The information about the contest is available at the official website of the project www.azbukainterneta.ru.
