Armenia's Armed Forces have never taken any actions going beyond the Constitution, Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan told reporters on sidelines of the event marking the centennial of the heroic self-defense battle at Musaler, when commenting on the expediency of Army's involvement into the Constitutional reform. The event took place at The

Musaler Memorial Complex in Armavir region, Armenia, on November 14.  

"Every citizen of Armenia understands that the Armed Forces keep political neutrality, but as ordinary citizens they ought to vote to express their stance," Ohanyan said.

"The Armed Forces Command Staff does not depend on the political reshuffles in the country and it will provide security to the citizens irrespective of any changes," Ohanyan said.

It is noteworthy that under the draft Constitution, the president appoints and dismisses the Armed Forces Command Staff and other troops at the request of the prime minister. 

To note, the constitutional referendum is scheduled for December 6.  Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan will take a leave to head the campaign headquarters. Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction, will head the "No!" Front. The New Armenia Movement has announced that the Founding Parliament coordinator Zhirayr Sefilyan will lead its campaign headquarters. He promised to launch the process of power shift on Dec 1.
