Zhirayr Sefilyan: New Armenia Movement will join October 30 rally of "No!" Front

New Armenia Movement running against the Constitutional Reform will join the October 30 rally of the "No!" Front, Zhirayr Sefilyan, the head of New Armenia headquarters told a news conference in Yerevan on October 29.  

He said the two movements closely cooperate and replenish each other. "We have no disagreements and we will be fighting against the incumbent authorities by combined efforts," the politician said.  As to the December 1 rally, he said, "No!" movement is so far discussing the issue and hopes to attend it together.  "However, the entire responsibility will be on New Armenia," he said. 

Head of the Heritage Party parliamentary faction Zaruhi Postanjyan, in turn, urged the people to go on strikes, the students - to boycott lessons, the unemployed - to take the streets and fight the authorities together.  "Both the Constitutional amendments and the referendum are aimed against the Armenian people, as the will help the authorities retain their grip on power," she said. 

To recall, on October 5, the National Assembly adopted the draft constitutional amendments with 104 "pros". The referendum on the reforms will be held on December 6. The amendments feature transition to the parliamentary system of government. The opponents of the amendments say it will help the incumbent authorities retain their grip on power.  Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan heads the campaign headquarters of the Republican Party. Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction, heads the "No!" Front.  The New Armenia Movement has announced that its campaign headquarters are headed by the Founding Parliament coordinator Zhirayr Sefilyan.
