Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan will head the Republican Party's Campaign Headquarters for the Constitutional Reform. Spokesperson of the Party, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters a decision on it was adopted at the extraordinary meeting of the RPA Executive Body on October 19.
The RPA spokesperson told reporters that Serzh Sargsyan charged Hovik Abrahamyan to set up and head the campaign headquarters throughout the country for the Constitutional Referendum of December 6.
"The prime ministers with partners will set up the headquarters as early as within the coming days," Sharmazanov said. In his words, the prime minister does not need to take a leave, as Armenia's law on referendum does not ban combining the responsibilities of the prime minister and the organizer of a political party's campaign for a referendum.
To recall, Hovik Abrahamuan headed the campaign headquarters also during the parliamentary elections 2012. Then he had to leave the post of the parliament speaker.
The referendum of Constitutional amendments is scheduled for December 6. The campaign started on October 10 and will over on November 4.
