During a meeting with CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Executive Secretary Pyotr Ryabikhin, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov suggested holding a joint meeting of the CSTO PA Council and the Defense Ministers of the CSTO Member States in spring 2016 in Yerevan.
The press office of the Armenian Parliament has told ArmInfo that Sharmazanov expressed the willingness of Armenia, which has assumed the CSTO presidency, to closely cooperate with the partners to ensure the implementation of the Collective Security Treaty provisions.
As regards the regional security problems, Sharmazanov noted that Armenia advocates peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. He expressed his concern over the fact that last month Azerbaijan's frequent ceasefire violations escalated the tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and along the line of contact of the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops. "Azerbaijan's provocative policy can seriously harm the peace process," she stressed. He said the partners within the CSTO PA should condemn the destructive policy of Azerbaijan.
The interlocutors think it is unacceptable to use military ways to settle the conflicts.
