During the Sept 15 meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CSTO Member States, Armenia is going to raise the issue of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and on the Line of Contact of the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops, Shavarsh Kocharyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, told journalists on September 10.
He said that the same issue was raised by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan during a recent meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow. At the same time, Shavarsh Kocharyan said that Armenia should not shift its own security issues to another country. "First of all, Armenia should rely on its own forces," he said, noting that the Karabakh peace process is hampered through the fault of Azerbaijan. "Official Baku focuses its attention on the problems it is interested in. This hampers the peace process.
There will be no progress until Azerbaijan changes its stand," said Kocharyan.
To note, the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CSTO Member States will take place in Dushanbe on September 15. The Presidents of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have confirmed their participation. Armenia will assume CSTO chairmanship in 2016
