During the current year lives of 16 newborn babies were saved in Sisian hospital. The results of the cooperation between VivaCell-MTS and BirthLink are satisfying, VivaCell-MTS press-office said.
Cases of complicated pregnancy and premature birth continue to remain at the center of the specialists' attention. Projects aimed at improving the neonatal care are considered as essential in reducing the level of infant mortality.
Owing to support by VivaCell-MTS and "BirthLink" NGO, two years ago the Sisian maternity department was equipped with high quality medical facilities. Lives of 48 newborns (out of the 503 born in that period) were saved due to comprehensive medical care, committed efforts of the personnel and availability of state-of-the-art medical equipment. Lives of 16 newborn babies have been saved only during the seven months of the current year.
Two prematurely born brothers, Slavik and Suren, are under the constant care of neonatal specialists in Sisian Maternity Department. Their health condition is already satisfactory. The provided equipment - a mobile warmer, a heated mattress, a pulse oximeter, nasal high flow, an emergency bag, infusion pumps, and other facilities - have been essential for providing quality healthcare to babies born with health problems. The availability of equipment allowed the specialists to save the newborns and stabilize their health condition.
The results are obvious, the aim is justified. To remind, the project of reequipping maternity departments in the capital and in regions of Armenia commenced in 2008.
