


The person detained on suspicion of the murder of Ivan Novikov, serviceman of the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, has made confessionary statements, ArmInfo's sources report.
Earlier Alexey Polyukhovich, the deputy head of the base, reported that a contract serviceman had been detained over the case.
To recall, the dead body of Ivan Novikov, a Russian serviceman of the 102nd military base in Gyumri, was found near the Mother Armenia monument in Gyumri. The Investigative Committee of Armenia has confirmed this information. According to the Committee, traces of violence - stab and slash wounds - were found on Novikov's body. A criminal case has been instituted under Article 104 of the Armenian Criminal Code (murder). Investigation is underway and all measures are being taken to find out the circumstances of the incident.
Law-enforces and forensic experts are currently working at the scene. Novikov is known to have served at the 102nd base for 3 months. It is rumored that the murder was preceded by a quarrel involving three persons.
