During June 12 parliamentary hearings ARF- Dashnaktsutyun deputy Artsvik Minasyan has urged Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia to deny energy market members' applications on energy rate increase.
According to him, process of rate increase should be frozen for at least 6 months during which alegislative- normative base should be elaborated. This base will be designed to consider the minimum consumption basket of Armenian citizens. Minasyan believes that Electric Networks of Armenia abuses its monopolistic status in the market. Hen suggests elaborating a package of measures that will first of all respect the interests of consumers.
To recall, on June 17, the public services watchdog is expected to discussed the draft decision on the new power rate for consumers that will be probably increased by 6.9 drams versus 17 drams requested by ENA.
