Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tigran Balayan posted on Twitter that the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations has evacuated three citizens of Armenia from Yemen.
"Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations evacuated three citizens of Armenia from Yemen to Moscow. Now, they are already in Yerevan. Thank you," Balayan wrote.
Already fifth plane from Yemen landed in Podmoskovye on April 6 delivering 150 people - citizens of Russia, France Belarus, Armenia and other countries - from Sana'a. As many as 600 people have already been evacuated from Yemen, with hundreds waiting for their turn to flee. Houthi rebels have taken control over the biggest part of the country, the biggest port city of Aden, though the military ships of Saudi Arabia are in the region.
Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov called on the other countries to join the process of evacuation. "Russia alone cannot save everyone who wants to flee due to the insurgency in Yemen. Other countries should join us," Lavrov said.
