The frontier guards of the Federal Security Service of Russia in Armenia have detained a dangerous criminal that might be armed. The statement came from Vyacheslav Biryukov, Head of the Frontier Department of the Russian Federal Security Service, when commenting on detention of Valery Permyakov, a soldier of the 102nd Russian military base who stands accused of a family murder in Armenia.
Biryukov recalled that Permyakov was detained while trying to cross the Armenian-Turkish border.
"The criminal has no nationality. I am very pleased to say that my officers detained a dangerous criminal. They did it without caring for their lives, as they did not know if the criminal was armed or not," he said.
A family of six was killed by Russian soldier Valery Permyakov in Gyumri on Jan 12. The only survivor, six-month- old Seryozha Avetisyan, who received stab wounds, died in hospital on Jan 19. Permyakov was detained on January 12 late in the evening while trying to cross the Armenian-Turkish border.
