ArmInfo. The Kyokushin Karate Federation of Armenia is reporting law enforcement inaction following the assassination attempt on the son of the Federation President, Vahagn Hakobyan.
In a statement received by ArmInfo, the Federation notes that 10 days have passed since the assassination attempt on Hakobyan, but the perpetrators have still not been arrested, despite the incident being recorded by CCTV cameras in the area.
The statement recalls that on October 24, at approximately 11:40 PM, a group of individuals using firearms and bladed weapons near the SAS supermarket on Kievyan Street seriously wounded 22-year-old Vahagn Hakobyan, the son of Andranik Hakobyan, the President of the Kyokushin Karate Federation of Armenia. Doctors were able to save his life with great difficulty. Vahagn Hakobyan is a student at two universities: a fifth-year student in the Faculty of General Medicine at the Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi and a fifth-year student in the Karate Department at the Yerevan State University of Physical Education.
"Vahagn Hakobyan is one of the best athletes in the Kyokushin Karate Federation of Armenia, a member of the adult national team that has won the most victories in various countries. Throughout his life, he proudly waved the Armenian tricolor abroad, being an eight-time champion of the Republic of Armenia and the Caucasus, a four-time European champion, and a world champion," the Federation added.
