ArmInfo. The Wings of Unity Party, led by former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, confirmed its readiness to work with opposition political and public forces to shape an agenda for the protection of Armenia's sovereignty, state security, constitutional order, and national identity, as well as to coordinate steps for its implementation.
The statement released by the political party stated that political and other differences cannot be a decisive factor for unification in a crisis for the homeland.
"The need for this consolidation is conditioned by the interrelated dangers of external coercion and internal political pressure." In our assessment, instead of acknowledging its political responsibility, the government presents the fulfillment of yet another demand from external forces as an inevitable condition for maintaining peace, and the forces opposing this policy as obstacles to peace, limiting the possibility of free discussion and political opposition to decisions of national importance," Tatoyan's party emphasized.
The political force noted that there is not and cannot be a demand in Armenian society to renounce the Declaration of Independence. "Consequently, such an agenda is the agenda of our external enemies, which serves the interests of the current government, and any such concession will lead to new demands and concessions. In this context, we also assess the investigative actions carried out on November 4 against Samvel Karapetyan and individuals associated with him. Their scale and the political situation give reason to believe that the goal is also to weaken the opposition's resistance and create favorable domestic political conditions for constitutional changes. The ruling majority's rhetoric about "public pressure" "The attack on the opposition and its leadership exacerbates this concern," the political party further noted.
Tatoyan's party strongly condemned any practice of using state leverage to suppress opponents, restrict political dissent, and replace public debate with an atmosphere of fear.
"The Wings of Unity Party learned from the press about the joint statement of the opposition forces on November 4, and we are ready to participate in consolidation initiatives based on these principles," the political party added.
At the same time, Tatoyan's party noted that this cooperation should be built on: A clear common agenda, equality of participants, and mutual respect and responsibility to society, as well as openness to citizen participation.
"Our goal is joint political work and coordinated actions to protect Armenia's sovereignty and constitutional order, strengthen national solidarity, and achieve a dignified and sustainable peace without external coercion and concessions to the detriment of national and state interests," Tatoyan's party concluded. It should be noted that late in the evening of November 4, 13 political forces announced a consolidation of forces in the fight against the current Armenian government. Armenia's opposition political forces declared a nationwide rally around the following goals: rejection of the imposed "Aliyev constitution," peace without unilateral concessions and territorial losses, protection of national identity and the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church, and restoration of democratic rights and freedoms.
