ArmInfo. Searches of the homes of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan and Strong Armenia parliamentary faction leader Narek Karapetyan are an act of political persecution. Lawyer Armen Feroyan stated this in a conversation with journalists on November 4.
He said that investigators seized the child's computer, as well as various documents, storage media, and other materials. "What happened is yet another illegal action and an act of political persecution. At this point, the defense does not have detailed information regarding the case. If new information emerges, we will definitely report it," Feroyan noted.
He also said that there is currently no information about possible arrests. In turn, the head of the Strong Armenia faction Narek Karapetyan said he was in parliament at the time of the searches. "Family members and children were at home at the time. This is already the fourth search this year," Karapetyan recalled. He expressed conviction that the incident is an attempt by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to persuade the opposition to vote for a new draft constitution to be put to a referendum. "This is what they're trying to convince us now. But even if they conduct 67 searches, our position remains unchanged. They will try to arrest dozens of people again, meaning we're already familiar with these processes. But let the people of Armenia see all this. We are a barrier for them, preventing them from pushing through the 'Aliyev Constitution.' Meanwhile, they are proposing a constitution that will weaken our country. But what we do is for the Armenian people, for all of us." "I want our compatriots to know this," the politician noted, not ruling out a series of arrests after these searches. Recall that the press secretary of the Strong Armenia party, Aghavni Sukiasyan, reported that since early morning, investigators from the Investigative Committee of Armenia have been conducting searches in the homes of the leader of the Strong Armenia bloc, Samvel Karapetyan, and the head of the Strong Armenia parliamentary faction, Narek Karapetyan. She noted that searches are also being conducted at other addresses associated with Karapetyan's family. Later, the press secretary of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Kima Avdalyan, reported that searches are being conducted simultaneously at 65 addresses.
