ArmInfo. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Hayk Sargsyan, a former member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract party. This was announced by Artur Poghosyan, Chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia, in a conversation with journalists on November 3.
According to him, the criminal case was received by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia from the Anti-Corruption Committee. Urgent investigative actions are currently being carried out, Poghosyan noted. "When the time comes to grant the appropriate status or information emerges that needs to be made public, we will definitely inform the public," the head of the IC concluded.
As a reminder, Hayk Sargsyan was expelled from the ruling Civil Contract party in early October 2026. The decision was made at a party board meeting chaired by board chairman and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Prior to this, Sargsyan made harsh statements and accused government officials of involvement in corrupt deals. Pashinyan subsequently stated that the disagreements were related to a number of circumstances, including the use of illegal license plates, illegal business activities on the shores of Lake Sevan, and involvement in illegal sand mining. Media outlets reported at the time that a criminal case had been opened against Hayk Sargsyan and individuals associated with him, and investigations were conducted against several law enforcement officials.
