ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani serviceman who illegally entered the village of Shaki in Armenia's Syunik region did not have murderous intent, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Artur Poghosyan stated in a conversation with journalists on November 3.
He said that the Azerbaijani serviceman was interrogated and gave testimony, but noted that he could not disclose the contents of the interrogation. "I cannot provide more detailed information on this matter due to the secrecy of the preliminary investigation. A closed meeting dedicated to this topic will be held in parliament the day after tomorrow," the head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia noted.
Poghosyan assured that the Azerbaijani serviceman got lost due to fog, although there was no fog at the time. "There is no attempt to protect anyone here." However, it's important to evaluate the facts. A man, lost, sees a house, breaks a window because he's hungry, and cooks himself some food. Then the children come in, he takes their phone, and then doesn't harm them," Poghosyan assured.
Asked where the Azerbaijani serviceman is currently being held, Poghosyan said he is being held in a penal institution. He declined to name the specific institution, explaining that he has no information about it.
As a reminder, Azerbaijani serviceman Nasimi Musayev, who illegally entered Armenia on October 1, 2026, entered a residential building in the village of Shaki in the Sisian district of the Syunik region and opened fire, wounding local resident Ani Avetisyan in front of her children. The victim and her children were injured, but Ani managed to resist and stab her attacker. Musayev was detained by law enforcement and remanded in court for two months. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously stated that the investigation and trial of the criminal case would take place in Armenia. At the same time, the Armenian prime minister attempted to act as the Azerbaijani soldier's lawyer, attempting to justify his aggression against the woman and children.
