Aram I held a meeting with Sergei Stepashin

ArmInfo. Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia discussed the state of Armenian-Russian relations with former Russian Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin.

According to Aram I's Facebook page, Stepashin visited Lebanon on a special mission. He was accompanied by Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov.

The statement recalls that Stepashin has previously met with the Lebanese President and Prime Minister on several occasions. During the meeting, the current state of relations between Armenia and Russia, historical ties between the Armenian and Russian churches, as well as Russia's presence and role in Lebanon, Syria, and the Middle East in general, were discussed. His Holiness clarified his views and concerns on the issues raised. On this occasion, His Holiness also recalled his long-standing close friendship with the Russian Patriarch Kirill.
