ArmInfo. It's essential to put aside all emotion when it comes to the statements made about the Armenian Armed Forces. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on October 28 during government hour in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, responding to a question from Sarik Minasyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction.
The member of parliament, in particular, emphasized the need to hold accountable, including criminally liable, those who denigrate the dignity of the country's armed forces with their statements. Similar accountability exists in friendly Russia.
In this regard, Pashinyan noted that utmost caution is required on this issue, as it could negatively impact democracy in the country, which is of fundamental importance to the country's authorities.
It is equally important that the Armed Forces be under the control of civil society. "We've created a smokescreen around the army, behind which something completely different has been observed. Another issue is that people should respond to their statements, but only through elections. For example, the opposition has already responded to the results of the local government elections. Now they themselves must decide whether to continue this path or not," the head of government noted.
