ArmInfo. The State Property Management Committee of Armenia will be renamed the State Assets Management Committee, and the Water Committee will be renamed the Land and Water Committee. At the plenary session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on October 27, amendments proposed by the Cabinet to the law "On the Structure and Activities of the Government" and a package of related laws will be discussed in the first reading.
Presenting the amendments, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Arnak Avetisyan noted that both agencies will be removed from the structure of the Ministry and will be directly subordinate to the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The main goal of the bill, as noted by the speaker, is to align these areas with the priorities of the government program for 2026-2031, centralize the professional capabilities of employees in these areas, and increase the level of accountability. In particular, as Arnak Avetisyan noted, the priority in the area of state asset management will be the effective management of state assets in state-owned companies, the implementation of a unified policy, which presupposes the existence of a unified and specialized structure. One of the most important objectives of the new structure should be increasing the profitability of state-owned companies, bringing unused assets into circulation, and, as a result, attracting new investment. Effective management of recovered illegally acquired assets will play a significant role in this matter. The Committee will pay close attention to improving the efficiency of joint-stock companies and developing the corporate governance system.
Regarding the water system, the speaker emphasized that this area will be a priority for the country's government in the coming years and implies the attraction of major investments. To manage investment flows, a specialized structure is needed that will regulate the direction of future investments.
