ArmInfo. The statement by the current Armenian ruler about his victory over the opposition and the absence of opposition in the country is, first and foremost, a signal to Turkey and Azerbaijan, according to Tigran Abrahamyan, a former member of the Armenian parliament and member of the Republican Party of Armenia.
The politician is confident that in this way, the authorities led by Nikol Pashinyan are signaling to the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem the absence of a national struggle and the exclusion from competition of forces that traditionally serve Armenian interests.
Abrahamyan acknowledged that no one can deny the existence of enormous problems in the opposition field, from the formation of a unified national agenda to mutual attacks and campaigns.
"However, regardless of the results of the elections to the National Assembly and local government bodies, the government is under strong external pressure, accompanied by concessions and an uncertain future, and in order to mitigate the situation, it is moving not toward protecting the Armenian agenda, but "Towards neutralizing political opponents within the country. Regardless of the situation on the opposition platform, the possibilities for forming a unified national agenda within the country and moving toward the right goal have not been exhausted," the Republican summarized.
It should be noted that yesterday, following the results of the local government elections, where the ruling party demonstrated results typical of authoritarian countries, securing almost 100% public support in many regions despite the lack of competition and pressure on opposition candidates, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement. The head of the Armenian Cabinet declared that they had managed to defeat the "three-headed war party," the "criminal oligarchy," and "agents of foreign forces."
