Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Security Assistance Programs Shawna Wilson visited Armenia to advance Armenian-American cooperation in border security, customs modernization and regional integration, including within the framework of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project.
According to the press service of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, in Yerevan Wilson met with State Revenue Committee Chairman Eduard Hakobyan and other Armenian officials to discuss efforts to strengthen Armenia’s border security and improve the technical equipment of border checkpoints. During her visit to the SRC, Wilson familiarized herself with the operation of the CertScan platform, launched with U.S. financial support ($3.5 million), which links border inspection technologies to a centralized monitoring center.
It is noted that, together with representatives of the Armenian Border Guard, she took part in a ceremony dedicated to the handover by the United States of vehicles and specialized equipment worth approximately $1.4 million, which will help modernize the Border Guard.
"These efforts reflect the United States’ unwavering commitment to strengthening Armenia’s border management capacity, promoting secure trade and supporting the expansion of regional connectivity," the U.S. Embassy in Armenia stated.
