ArmInfo. Construction of the Ajapnyak metro station is scheduled to begin next year. This was announced by Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a working meeting of the Yerevan City Hall on October 26.
He also noted that an Armenian company should undertake this work, possibly in a consortium with other companies, but the knowledge and skills for metro construction should remain in Armenia.
Forget the logic of an international company building something, leaving, and saying "goodbye!"! An Armenian company should undertake the construction, because in the future, we shouldn't limit ourselves to this station. We want people who understand how to build a metro and
develop this potential," Avinyan said.
The mayor also emphasized that within a month, the land plots needed for the construction of the Ajapnyak metro station will be recognized as a priority.
As a reminder, the mayor's office previously noted that construction of the Ajapnyak metro station, which will last approximately four years, is scheduled to begin in 2026. The medium-term expenditure program amounts to 6 billion drams, but the amount will be adjusted following the approval of the program by the Investment Council.
In February of this year, Tigran Avinyan announced that the Ajapnyak metro construction project had already passed all the necessary expert assessments.
