ArmInfo. Former Armenian parliament member and Republican Party member Tigran Abrahamyan commented on the preliminary results of the local government elections held in 21 communities across the country.
He noted that throughout the entire election cycle, all state resources have been working against the ruling Civil Contract Party's competitors: families are subjected to harassment, threats, blackmail, and detentions, resulting in only one candidate participating in a number of localities.
"They say 90%... And participation is out of the question; the only important thing is that they are celebrating the success of the only candidate from the Civil Contract in "competitive" elections. Wherever there are competitors, from distant relatives to friends from the army, they take provocative steps. "And they still call all this elections," Abrahamyan wrote on his Facebook page.
It's worth noting that on October 25, local government elections were held in several communities across Armenia. The elections were characterized by a lack of competition and pressure on opposition forces. Moreover, opposition forces complained that tens of thousands of Armenian citizens were deprived of their voting rights because they traveled abroad for seasonal work.
