ArmInfo. Vladimir Abroyan, Honored Artist of Armenia, member of the Artists' Union of Armenia and the USSR, winner of numerous international cartoon competitions, and longtime contributor to the editorial board of "Voice of Armenia," has passed away at the age of 87. His daughter, Ira Abroyan, announced the artist's passing.
"Yesterday, my father passed away—Honored Artist of Armenia, winner of all-Union and international competitions, the country's most famous cartoonist, a wonderful man—gentle, tactful, modest, very ironic, and cheerful." I could go on and on, as he was a multifaceted talent: animator, actor, caricaturist, chief artist for the satirical magazine "Vozni," book designer... A man who won gold medals for his country and numerous awards abroad. He passed away quietly, just a couple of days after he was told that the newspaper to which he had devoted many years of his life, back when it was "Kommunist" (now "Voice of Armenia"), no longer needed his services. Symbolic... Rest in peace, Master, master of Armenian caricature, which is known and appreciated throughout the world today largely thanks to your skill and sparkling humor! But you live and will live on—in your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom you admired and loved. "And, of course, in his works, which exposed and exposed all the vices of the world and people, he amused and delighted everyone who saw them," his daughter wrote on her Facebook page.
It's worth noting that Vladimir Abroyan has been published in republican and prestigious Soviet-era publications since 1960. His cartoons, along with creative descriptions and biographies, are included in the International Encyclopedia of Humor (Turin, Italy), as well as in a world anthology of cartoons.
