Nune Ohanyan has served as Chief Specialist of the Protocol Department of the Government Staff of Armenia since 2011.
The position of Head of the State Protocol Service remains vacant. The government has announced an open competition for this position.
The goal is to select a candidate with high professional, managerial, and organizational competencies, capable of ensuring effective leadership of the Service, organizing official visits and high-level events, and further developing the Service.
The Service was previously headed by Gagik Vanoyan (from 2022 to 2026). According to rumors circulating in the Armenian media, he was fired for a slip of the tongue made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a joint press statement with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov: Pashinyan called the latter the president of Kazakhstan.
