ArmInfo. The second phase of the renovation of the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to the Victims of the Armenian Genocide will be completed by the end of the year. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MECS) of Armenia following the visit of the head of the ministry, Zhanna Andreasyan, to Tsitsernakaberd.
Andreasyan inspected the progress of the second phase of the memorial complex renovation on-site. Representatives of the contractor company assured the minister that construction work is proceeding according to the approved schedule. Plans for next year were also presented to the head of MECS. The possibility of carrying out work simultaneously on several sites, with an increase in the number of workers and specialists, if necessary, was discussed. The importance of organizing preparatory work during the winter months, in particular stone processing and procurement of necessary materials, was also noted to ensure the smooth progress of work in the next stage," the Ministry reported.
According to the source, Andreasyan emphasized the importance of ensuring the most comfortable and safe conditions for visitors to the memorial during construction, once again emphasizing the need to maintain high quality and meet established deadlines.
As a reminder, in October 2024, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia announced the start of major renovations of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and the Tsitsernakaberd Museum on October 8. The work is being carried out with state funding in the amount of 743 million drams (approximately $2 million). The contractor is the construction company Bidek LLC, which won an open tender. The work is scheduled to be completed within 300 days—that is, by the end of 2026. It should be noted that the issue of artificially extended reconstruction deadlines and numerous errors that lead to more damage than restoration has already been raised.
