The Armenian Ombudsman`s Office responded to a complaint filed by prisoner Armen Simonyan

ArmInfo. The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia has responded to the complaint of prisoner Armen Simonyan, who claims that Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan participated in his illegal transfer from the Sevan Penitentiary to the Artik Penitentiary, where he is being tortured.

"The assertion by prisoner Armen Simonyan that the Human Rights Defender took any action to transfer him from Sevan to Artik Prison is surprising, as the prisoner in question contacted the Human Rights Defender from Artik Prison, raising the issue of his transfer to another prison. Moreover, a representative of the Human Rights Defender visited a detainee in the Artik prison, the office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia reported.

Earlier, Simonyan called ArmInfo and complained about poor treatment at the Artik penitentiary over the past four months.
