ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan did not rule out an exchange of enclaves with Azerbaijan.
"Various discussions are underway on this issue and will be comprehensively discussed with Azerbaijan, which is demonstrating a constructive approach. I don't want to prejudge any agreements. But I can say that if part of the 29,740.3 square meters of recognized Armenian territory is transferred to another state, and something is gained, this is a matter that requires a popular vote, and that's how it will be. One solution is for one territory to remain with another, the other with a third, or they can be exchanged," he said at a press conference with his Swiss counterpart, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Ignazio Cassis. The official added that, theoretically, such an exchange could take place between enclaves or equivalent territories, and would be carried out through a plebiscite.
Recall that in this case, we are talking about three alleged enclaves located within Armenia: Tigranashen (Kyarki), Barkhudarli, and Upper Voskepar (Yukhary Askipara). Armenia, for its part, insists on resolving the issue of the village of Artsvashen, which is under Azerbaijani occupation.
